Saturday, 7 May

Deputy Chief of Mission of the U.S. Embassy in Moldova Julie Stufft officially opens the last volleyball competition, which represents the culminating event within a one-week programme, Friendship Bridges by Volleyball. The camp, in which over 100 girls and boys from Vulcanesti and Chisinau participated, was led by American coaches: Linda Gomez – coach of men’s volleyball at the Warner University of Miami, Florida, and coach William Doyle – director of the High Performance Programme of the U.S. Volleyball Federation.

The event takes place at the Speranta club from Chisinau at 12:00.

A festivity of awarding prizes to the winners of the final of the national chess tournament between school teams, “Turnul Alb” (White Tower) is held at the Republican Club of Chess and Draughts at 12:00.    

 

Sunday, 8 May

A cycling race on the route Chisinau – Serpeni – Chisinau is organised in the honour of those who died on battlefields on the occasion of the Victory Day. The race starts nearby the Chisinau circus at 9:30.  

 

Monday, 9 May

Thirty six units of military equipment, used within the Moldovan-American exercise Dragon Pioneer 2016, are to be exhibited on the Great National Assembly Square on the Day of commemorating the victims of the World War II, at 13:00-18:00.

 

Tuesday, 10 May

The Constitutional Court of Moldova considers the constitutionality of a  law provision at 10:00.

The manager of the Green Line on prevention of suicide, Liuba Ceban, gives a news conference to speak on a large number of suicide cases in Moldova, at IPN at 10:00.

A volume on freedom of conscience in 2015 is unveiled at the Academy of Sciences at 11:00.

The National Art Museum hosts a personal exhibition by fine artist Simion Zamsa till 15 May.

A commemorative exhibition by ceramist Vlad Bolboceanu is opened at the National Art Museum till 15 May.

 

2. MISIUNI MOLDOVENEȘTI ÎN STRĂINĂTATE

A platoon of National Army servicemen on 9-16 May participate in the exercise Platinum Eagle 2016, held at the Smardan shooting range, Galati county, Romania.
