Moldovan government to award prizes for very good Olympic, Paralympic results

Chisinau, 11 May /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers today approved the quantum of prizes for the performances got at the 31st issue of the Summer Olympic Games and the 15 issue of the Paralympic Games from 2016, organised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported. 

Under the document, the Olympic champions will be awarded by the government with three million lei each, the winners of silver medals – 2.6 million lei each and the bronze winners – two million lei each. At the same time, the sportspeople due to be on the fourth- eighth positions will get money prizes worth from 200,000 to 400,000 lei.     

Coaches will be awarded for results got at Olympic and Paralympic Games as well. The coach’s prize will be equal to the one offered to the sportsman, and if a coach trained more prize-winners, he/she will get a financial reward equivalent to the biggest prize given to his/her sportspeople and by 75 per cent from the rest of the prizes won. The medical staff will receive by ten per cent of the value of the prize set for the assisted sportsman.     

At the current issue of the Olympic Games, Moldova will be represented by 25-27 Olympic sportspeople and three Paralympic ones.
