Moldovan deputy foreign minister participates in International Conference “NATO Summit in Warsaw: Tackling New Threats”

Chisinau, 12 May /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Lilian Darii participated today in the opening session of the Conference “NATO Summit in Warsaw: Tackling New Threats”, which is organized by the Polish Embassy and the Information and Documentation Centre on NATO, in Chisinau, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s communication and media relations service has reported.
In his speech, Darii reaffirmed the Moldovan authorities’ commitment to continue with the reform and modernization of the national defence and security sector based on the newly emerging security environment. He also mentioned that the neutrality status is not impediment to foster co-operation with Euro-Atlantic structures aimed at modernising the security and defence capabilities, as well as increase the country’s potential to contribute to regional and global security by participating in international peacekeeping and peace-building efforts.
The conference was divided in two sessions: The road to NATO Summit in Warsaw: Key Priorities and Accomplishments and Changing European Security Environment. Representatives of governmental institutions, diplomatic corps, academia and civil society participated in the Conference.
