Moldovan premier urges young people to be creative, come up with innovations

Chisinau, 14 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip has urged pupils to be creative and innovative, as the application of innovations, new technologies will enhance the competitiveness and economic development of Moldova. Statements to this effect were made at a ceremony on awarding the winners of the national contest, The Best Innovator Pupil Genius, held in Chisinau today, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The prime minister stressed that the principal factors of development and modernization in the information age were knowledge and capacities to create and implement innovations.
‘’I encourage all young people to study well, be creative and come up with new ideas. If most citizens have profound knowledge and make education of quality, if they are creative and innovative in the work they carry out, then Moldova’s potential will exceed hundreds-fold or thousands-fold the physical size of the state. The works I saw he have impressed me,’’ Pavel Filip said.
At the event, the prime minister handed the prize for the best work to pupils Munteanu Nicolae from the Technical and Agricultural College and Guzun Dimitrie of the Constantin Stere theoretical lyceum from northern Soroca town. They created a device for turning the solar energy into thermal energy. Their ingenious work is a novelty in the renewables sector of Moldova.
The national contest, The Best Innovator Pupil Genius, is organized for the ninth time in a row by the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, in partnership with more institutions which back and promote the development of innovative and creative capacities among young people. This year issue was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the first research institutions and the 55th anniversary of the foundation of Moldova’s Academy of Sciences.
As many as 118 pupils aged between 7 and 20 years, who presented 116 works, participated in the contest.
