Foundation congress of Action and Solidarity Party held in Moldova

Chisinau, 15 May /MOLDPRES/ - The Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), led by the former education minister, Maia Sandu, held its foundation congress today.
According to the statute, PAS is a centre-right party, which shares and promotes the doctrine of social liberalism.
The participants in the congress approved the programme, symbol and leadership of the party. Thus, Maia Sandu was elected leader of the formation. ‘’I am sure that we have a chance to live better here at home. Moldova can be led in a different way, by promoting a policy in the interest of the citizens,’’ the PAS leader noted.
The formation’s programme provides for the implementation of systematic reforms, through which the foundations of a real market economy should be laid, which are to provide jobs for citizens, continuation of reforms for a quality education and ensuring the social protection of the vulnerable categories.
‘’We have come to start a process of transformation of systems. We believe in action, solidarity, in our own forces and in the fact that we can mobilize ourselves to fight corruption and poverty. We will fight for an integral system, for reforming the justice and liquidate corruption. I am sure that we can make these changes, in order to lead a better life, which we deserve,’’ Sandu added.
Also today, Liliana Nicolaescu and Sergiu Musteata were elected deputy leaders of this party, and Igor Grosu was appointed PAS secretary general. The mandate of the party’s new leadership is ten months. The PAS leadership is to organize the formation’s team for the presidential polls, due on 30 October.
On 23 December 2015, Maia Sandu informed about the launch of the Movement ‘’In PAS with Maia Sandu’’, which was at the basis of the political party’s foundation. Presently, the Action and Solidarity Party has 7,500 members and 20 territorial organisations.
