Moldovan foreign minister meets Council of Europe Secretary General

Chisinau, 18 May /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur today had a meeting with Council of Europe Secretary General , Thorbjorn Jagland, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.
The officials exchanged opinions on up-to-date issues concerning Moldova’s cooperation with the Council of Europe. In the context, the sides appreciated the drafts of the action plan on supporting the democratic reforms in Moldova (2013-2016) and the framework of CoE-EU programmatic cooperation for the Eastern Partnership countries (2015-2017). To ensure continuity, the officials agreed on the launch of negotiations on the next programme of assistance, the implementation of which will start in 2017.
The European official stressed the priority attention on the reform of justice and prosecution. Also, CoE Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland assured the Moldovan authorities of the Council of Europe’s full support.
As for the Transnistrian conflict settlement process, Andrei Galbur and Thorbjorn Jagland welcomed the drafts containing measures for strengthening trust on both banks of Dniester.
