Chisinau, 19 May /MOLDPRFES/ - The 13th issue of the CRONOGRAF International Documentary Film Festival, held in Chisinau on 12-18 May, has ended with the awarding of prizes.
The Grand Prize and the Trophy in the Principal Section, worth 2,500 euros, offered by the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency, was given to the film Starless Dreams, made by Mehrdad Oskouei (Iran). The jury ruled to provide the trophy “to a film with an attentive, delicate, poetic and deeply human approach through art, about the unsafe existence and vulnerability of young Iranian women, caught between reality and tradition. An oscillation between pain and joy, tears and happiness.”
The film, The Domino Effect, directed by Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosolowski (Germany, Poland) got the Prize for Direction for “the original vision of the author on the unusual and frozen universe of an unrecognized territory and the young love between a woman and a man.”
The documentary, Mr. Gaga, directed by Tomer Heymann (Israel), received the Special Prize of the Jury, as well as the Audience Choice Award in the principal Section.
As for the CadRo Section, the trophy and the first prize went to the film Wild, a Romanian-Danish co-production, directed by Dan Curean. This is “a cinematographic poem about people, horses, tough reality and thirst for freedom, translated into an inspired cinematographic technique, with a rigorous scenario and an exciting language.” The Audience Choice Award in the CadRo Section was given to the documentary “Călușarii din Bârla”( Calusarii from Barla), directed by Adriana Oprea (Romania).
The First Prize and the Trophy of the Local Productions Section was awarded to Olga Lucovnicova for the film „Nu am, moarte, cu tine nimic” (I Have Nothing to Do with You, Death).
The CRONOGRAF International Documentary Film Festival has been organised by OWH Studio starting from 2001.
