Moldovan foreign minister meets Bulgarian, Turkish, Romanian officials

Chisinau, 19 May /MOLDPRES/- In the context of a ministerial session of the Council of Europe in Sofia on 18 May, Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur had meetings with Foreign Ministers of Bulgaria Daniel Mitov and of Turkey Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, as well as with State Secretary of Romania's Foreign Ministry Daniel Ionita, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s communication and media relations service has reported.
The sides exchanged opinions about the main issues on the agenda of bilateral relations and considered the opportunity to organize a round of Moldovan-Bulgarian consultations focused on the European integration problem. Also, the officials reconfirmed the interest in boosting the bilateral economic cooperation and appreciated the results of the activity of the Moldovan-Bulgarian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation carried out in March 2016 in Sofia.
Mitov reiterated Bulgaria’s willingness to back Moldova in implementing the reform programme seen in the Association Agreement with EU, as well as scheduling an official visit to Moldova.
During a meeting with Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, the sides reconfirmed the mutual interest in further developing the cooperation relations between the two countries, including within the international organizations. A special focus was on the need to boost the trade exchanges on the basis of the Free Trade Agreement between the two countries, which is to enter into force after its ratification by the Turkish side.
The two officials agreed on holding in the near future of the 8th meeting of the Moldovan-Turkish intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.
The exchange of opinions with Daniel Ionita was focused on the current issues on the bilateral cooperation agenda, including the regional security. Also, they approached topics on further implementation of reform goals seen in the EU-Moldova Association Agreement.
