Chisinau, 19 May /MOLDPRES/- The European Union (EU) expects reforms, facts and concrete results in implementing the roadmap on the EU-Moldova Association Agreement. MEPs made the statement in Chisinau today after a meeting between the delegation of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee and Prime Minister Pavel Filip.

The officials said they had approached issues related to the current stage of EU-Moldova cooperation, achievements recorded in implementing the reform agenda and financial situation.

“The today’s discussion was constructive, we tackled concrete facts, and not promises. If we refer to the financial support, then EU is willing to intervene only after signing an agreement with the International Monetary Fund. It is important the Moldovan government to have political ambition in implementing reforms. We see achievements, but we expect better results, as during the next meeting due this autumn in Brussels we will analyze in details these achievements”, co-head of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee Andi Cristea said.

“Moldova is an extremely important partner for us, therefore we further back the implementation of the roadmap in order to restore trust both of the EU and citizens”, the Rapporteur of the European Parliament for Moldova Petras Auštrevičius said.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip said that the ministries were willing to implement the reforms and meet the goals set in the roadmap. “There is a great desire to modernize Moldova, we are glad that our country remains in the list of priority states of the European Parliament’s programme and we are supported in meeting the goals”, Filip said.

The meeting of the EU-Moldova Parliamentary Association Committee is carried out in Chisinau on 18-19 May. The first meeting of the forum took place in Brussels on 21-22 September 2015.
