Moldova, State of Qatar to strengthen bilateral cooperation

Chisinau, 19 May /MOLDPRES/ - The relations between Moldova and Qatar in the trade, economic, investment and humanitarian sectors were the main subjects tackled at a today’s meeting of Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Moldova Mohammed Bin Mohammed Ali-Maliki, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The officials highlighted the positive dynamic of the bilateral cooperation. Since the opening of the diplomatic mission of the State of Qatar, the bilateral trade exchanges have increased from 72,600 dollars to 329,600 dollars in 2015.
Referring to the development and strengthening of the economic ties between the two countries in the long run, the prime minister stressed the usefulness of promoting business opportunities, including by organising forums and business missions, which would facilitate the establishment of direct business contacts.
“We are concerned about the attraction of foreign investors in our country, who are to develop competitive projects, of major economic impact. Therefore, knowing the investment potential of the State of Qatar, we want to see as many as possible investors from this country in Moldova,” Pavel Filip said.
For his part, the ambassador of the State of Qatar referred to the simplification of the procedure of providing visas to the citizens of Qatar who want to visit Moldova, stressing that this would allow increasing the flow of tourists and business people from this country. At the same time, the diplomat gave assurances that he would contribute to boosting the dialogue on the next period, in order to identify and promote all opportunities of bilateral cooperation.
In the end of the meeting, the prime minister assured that the government would provide every needed support to facilitate business contacts.
