Moldovan, German officials approach bilateral cooperation, reforms

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/- On a visit to Berlin, Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Lilian Darii had a meeting with Head of the Task Force of German OSCE Chairmanship Antje Leerdetse on 19 May, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s communication and media relations service has reported.
The officials exchanged opinions about the Moldovan-German cooperation agenda while exercising by Germany of OSCE chairmanship in 2016. A special attention was paid to the current issues on the agenda of Transnistrian conflict settlement process, especially, the resumption of negotiations in the five plus two format and the promotion of confidence building measures. In this context, they welcomed the efforts taken to elaborate the agenda for the next meeting in the five plus two format, due in Berlin in early June, and voiced hope that it would be successful.
Darii highly appreciated the efforts of the German team in relaunching the negotiations in the five plus two format and promoting the confidence building measures between the two banks of the Dniestre.
The German official reiterated the country’s willingness to further back Moldova in implementing the reforms and identifying a political solution to the Transnistrian problem within the five plus two negotiations.
