Polish artists' exhibition inaugurated in Moldovan capital

Chisinau, 20 May /MOLDPRES/ - A painting exhibition of a group of artists from Poland titled, Wroclaw Now – Some Pictures of Order, was inaugurated at the National Art Museum today.  

The exhibition comprises 74 works made by fine artists, teachers from the E. Geppert Academy of Fine Arts from Wroclaw, Poland, in the last 39 years.

Contacted by MOLDPRES, the director of the National Art Museum, Tudor Zbirnea, said the exhibition presented diverse tendencies of contemporary painting, and the works were created by artists of different generations, beginning with the youngest, former graduates of the Academy of Fine Arts, who were employed at the institution, and ending with teachers, classic artists of the Polish art.   

“This is an exceptional exhibition. Some of these works were exhibited in more European cities. I am glad that the exhibition has reached Moldova as well. It is part of a more comprehensive European context: this year, the Wroclaw Academy of Fine Arts turned 70, and the Wroclaw city became European Capital of Culture. Poland is a very rich and important country in the international artistic space,” Tudor Zbirnea noted.   

Attending the event, Ambassador of Poland to Moldova Artur Michalski stressed that such exhibitions by Polish artists of various generations had already become a tradition. “Wroclaw is a very nice city. I am glad that it has become the European Capital of Culture this year. The exhibition is presently a visiting card of the contemporary Polish art,” the ambassador said.    

The exhibition will be opened till 19 June.
