Moldovan health ministry assesses safety of hospitals in Moldova

Chisinau, 23 May /MOLDPRES/- The Health Ministry carries out actions to assess the level of safety of hospitals from Moldova to emergency situations and disasters.
According to an order signed by Health Minister Ruxanda Glavan, over 60 hospitals from the entire country, among which the Republican Clinical Hospital, Mother and Child Institute, Municipal Clinical Hospital for Children No 1, Emergency Medicine Institute and V.Ignatenco Municipal Clinical Hospital for Children, are to be verified.
“Based on the results achieved, the heads of the institutions subject to assessment will plan and implement concrete measures meant to strengthen the safety of hospitals subordinated to emergency situations and disasters,” the order reads.
The commission assesses the medical institutions according to over 150 parameters, which, on the whole, show the safety of a hospital to different emergency situations and disasters.
“The safety of structural elements of the building (carcass, foundation, roof, floors between storeys), type and quality of materials used in construction, degree of building's wear, safety of engineering networks, waste management, anti-fire protection, as well as the level of staff's education in emergency situations will be checked,” the order said.
The expenses will be covered by the World Health Organisation Office for Europe.
The evaluation of the medical institutions will be carried out till 16 September, and the results will be submitted to the Health Ministry till 10 October 2016.
