Chisinau, 25 May /MOLDPRES/- Publicist Denis Rosca launched a book titled „Cartea de Aur a Basarabiei şi a Republicii Moldova” (Golden Book of Bessarabia and Republic of Moldova) at the B.P.Hasdeu municipal library on 24 May. More than 1,800 biographies of personalities with Bessarabian roots, achievements at international level in various sectors and parts of the world, recorded during two centuries till present, were included in the book.
Attending the event were the deputy head of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Ion Tighineanu, academician Gheorghe Rusnac, the head of the Diaspora Relations Bureau, Valeriu Turea, writer and publicist Vlad Pohila and others.
Some protagonists of the book were also present at the event, among whom sportsman Ion Lazarenco Tiron, - the only Moldovan who went swimming the Lamanche strait, North Channel and strait of Gibraltar, as well as the Dniester river on a distance of 238 km, on charity purposes. Along with the author, there was also Andrei Carpenco, the first Moldovan citizen who conquered Everest in 2009 and hoisted the Moldovan flag, thus Moldova becoming the 42nd country to record such a performance.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, Vlad Pohila said that the book was, in fact, an encyclopedic dictionary, in which the author tried to persuade us that Moldova was a land of many talents, which should ward off any inferiority complex.
The foreword author said that the specific feature of the work consisted in presentation of the performances of Bessarabia and Moldova in an impressive ethnic diversity, with its protagonists being Moldovans, Russians, Ukrainians, Poles, Jews, Bulgarians, Gagauz etc., born in Moldova.
“This ethnic diversity is a great wealth of our people. Although the author has his own principles and rules for elaborating the dictionary, this is a scientific paper, excelling through a rigid documentation. An impressive element is that the book benefits from a good design, made by Iurie Burlacu”, Pohila said.
For his part, Denis Rosca noted he had highlighted the multiculturalism of Moldova in this book.
“I covered the entire area of the globe, discovering outstanding personalities from Bessarabia and Moldova. I hope this book will have a strong impetus for the young generation, so that it becomes more courageous in actions. They have already over 1,800 biographies of personalities from Moldova who did what others failed. Thus, in each field they want to test, they should know that there is already a beaten track by a Moldovan”, Rosca stressed.
The book includes 650 pages, it appeared in 300 copies, and is to be republished in a new variant. Also, the encyclopedic dictionary will be translated into other universal languages, including English.
