Diaspora Relations Bureau launches new sub-programe for diaspora

Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/- The Diaspora Relations Bureau (BRD), in partnership with the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), Moldova-based Mission, supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), has launched a sub-programme on Women Empowerment in Diaspora, the fourth one within the grant programme, Diaspora Engagement Hub.
According to a communiqué by BRD, the new subprogramme will provide support to the projects focused on improving social and economic conditions of women by transfer of knowledge and skills, including by creating innovative services and involvement in community initiatives. The activities can be organized both in Moldova and abroad.
Five grants, worth 5,000 Swiss francs each, are available within the sub-programme. Citizens interested to participate in the contest will submit projects on 1 June 2016-31 March 2017 for several priority sectors: community development, education and mentoring; health; social entrepreneurship; counseling and advocacy; social services.
The applications will be submitted online on the website: www.brd.gov.md. The projects will be considered once in two months, during the entire period of application, by a common assessment commission IOM / BRD.
Projects proposed only by diaspora members (private people, initiative group/association), whose direct and/or indirect beneficiaries are women from Moldovan diaspora, can get funding. The period of implementing the activities should not exceed four months. Political and cultural projects are not eligible.
The Diaspora Engagement Hub is a programme meant for diaspora, implemented by BRD in partnership with IOM, Mission in Moldova, within the project, “Consolidating Moldova’s Migration and Development Institutional Framework” project, financed by the Swiss Agency for International Development and Cooperation (SDC).
