Moldovan energy regulatory authority announces public meeting on lawfulness of fuels prices increase

Chisinau, 26 May /MOLDPRES/ - The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) has informed about a public meeting, due on 30 May, to consider the lawfulness of the increase in prices for oil products. Also, ANRE will approve the maximal values of the trade margin related to the sale of the principal oil products and liquefied gas.
ANRE noted that the increase in prices for oil products by oil companies ran counter provisions of the law on oil products market and the methodology of the formation and applying the prices for oil products, approved through the Decision of ANRE Administrative Board from 31 March 2016.
Representatives of operators from the oil products market, state structures and interested non-governmental organisations, experts in the energy sector, journalists, other interested people were invited to the meeting.
After more companies had increased the prices for fuels today morning, Prime Minister Pavel Filip demanded urgently starting a public debate on this subject, with the involvement of companies from the field and civil society, in order to clear up, transparently, the validity of the arguments invoked by oilmen, as well as the economic opportunity of increasing the prices at present.
Today, the fuel supply stations increased the prices for petrol by an average of 0.60 lei and for diesel oil – by 1.10 lei.
