Moldovan PM attends Wine Vernissage

Chisinau, 27 May /MOLDPRES/- Prime Minister Pavel Filip participated in the 10th issue of the Wine Vernissage on 26 May. Visitors had the opportunity to taste wine production of nearly 30 companies, which had been awarded over 80 prizes at international contests, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

“There are some competitive products in our country, which make us proud that we are citizens of Moldova. Wines, besides fruits and vegetables of quality, are our business card abroad. Thanks for dedication and passion you produce these wines, as well as for the fact that you managed to develop industry in line with the highest standards”, he said.

At the same time, the premier appreciated the results achieved by producers on foreign markets. He pointed out that enhancing competitiveness of Moldovan wines was due to the investments in technologies and advanced equipment, perseverance and reforms implemented by authorities.

At the end of the event, the premier urged the participants to consume and appreciate local wines, as foreign consumers do.

“An old Latin proverb says: “In vino, veritas”, and truth about our qualities as a people resides in the way of creating quality wines, which become most popular at international level. On European markets, the Moldovan wines’ exports increased by over 30 per cent, whereas in Japan and China, wine delivery was doubled in 2015”, Filip said.

The Wine Vernissage included white and rose wine tasting, launch of local production and gifts from producers. Attending the event were representatives of diplomatic missions accredited to Chisinau, entrepreneurs and over 1,000 visitors.
