Chisinau, 27 May /MOLDPRES/-The parliament today adopted a draft decision, declaring the day of 1 June as day off for all Moldovan employees.
The legislative initiative was submitted by Liberal MP Alina Zotea, who said children and their parents should celebrate this holiday together.
“I submitted this legislative initiative as 1 June is the International Children’s Day and should be celebrated together with the parents. Children perform in different shows and they need their parents' support, affection and attention,” Zotea said.
The Liberal MP said they would do their best to declare the day of 1 June as day-off this year. “According to the legislative procedure, some points of the Labour Code are to be amended. It is a quick procedure, however, we need the approval of the government to allow the decision to enter into force in 2016,” Zotea said.
Moldova marks the International Children’s Day on 1 June every year, in compliance with the Declaration of the Rights of the Child, adopted by the UN General Assembly in 1959.
