Fresh fruit consumption backing campaign launched in Chisinau today

Chisinau, 27 May /MOLDPRES/-The “Coolege Vitamine” campaign, aiming to back and enhance the consumption of fresh fruits in public schools and kindergartens from Chisinau municipality, was launched in Moldova today.
The project is backed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and will be implemented in five schools and kindergartens from Chisinau. All institutions have been selected through contest and their names are to be announced by 30 May 2016. Thus, more than 2,000 students will enjoy sliced and nicely packaged fresh apples from local producers, twice a week, for a whole year.
Attending the event was UNDP permanent representative Narine Sahakyan, who said that this pilot project would provide children with the necessary daily intake of vitamins, offered by fresh fruits.
“We want to urge parents, private companies and other institutions to do their best and invest in the health of children, who represent our future. We will double each leu you donate, in order to get the necessary amount of money to implement the project,” Sahakyan said.
People and institutions interested in backing the “Coolege Vitamine” campaign may donate money on www.picivoinici.md or at payment terminals. The collecting process may be monitored online and collected money will be directly transferred to companies in charge of processing and packing the fruits.
