Children to have own parliament session on 1 June

Chisinau, 31 May /MOLDPRES/-The parliament will celebrate International Children’s Day within the “Children’s Parliament” event, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Almost 50 young people from all over Moldova, including children from community centers, aged between 10 and 18, will be MPs for a single day, guided by Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu. In the beginning of the meeting, which will take place in the parliament’s session hall, children-deputy speakers will be elected. They will be seated in the presidium of the parliament and will head the meeting together with the speaker.
Children will view a short film on what the parliament means, way the laws are being carried out and adopted. Subsequently, the parliament speaker will talk about the MPs’ activity in the parliament and about what it means to be a politician.
At the end of the meeting, children-MPs will vote a joint declaration on ensuring the friendship between the Moldovan parliament and children.
Also, in the context of the entrance into force of the anti-tobacco law, the speaker and children will hold an awareness raising action on the harmful effects of the tobacco consumption on health.
