Moldovan cabinet approves measures to protect, turn Orheiul-Vechi natural reservation to good account

Chisinau, 31 May /MOLDPRES/-The cabinet today approved a string of measures aimed to rehabilitate, protect and turn the “Orheiul Vechi” cultural-natural reservation to good account, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.

According to the normative document, the Culture Ministry will carry out and promote over 2016, restoration, conservation and exploitation measures of the reservation, as well as actions aimed to arrange its territory and the protection area. The ministry will also take measures to reform the management of the cultural-natural reservation and develop tourism in the region.

Authorities will also analyze the exploitation and protection of touristic locations by the monachal community from Butuceni, such as the: Nativity of Mary Church, “Pestera” (Cave) Cave Monastery and the area of the Gaetic fortress “Butuceni”, all of them being included on the register of state-protected monuments.

The government decision also sees that the Transports and Road Infrastructure in cooperation with the local public administration and institutions in charge shall come up with a restoration project of Butuceni-Mascauti local road during 2016.

Also, the government recommends local public authorities to cooperate with the administration of the reservation, carry out and implement a plan aimed to arrange the territory in the region, restore crafts, customs, traditions and promote ecological products along with the development of the cultural-ecological tourism.

“Orheiul-Vechi” reservation is a system of unique cultural and natural landscapes in the world and has a special importance for Moldova.
