New 10-million-euros-worth investments might enter Moldova's economy

Chisinau, 31 May /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today had a meeting with representatives of the Gebauer&Griller Company of Austria, which is set to open a new enterprise for producing electric wires in the Balti-based Free Economic Zone (FEZ), the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
According to the executive manager of the Gebauer&Griller Company, Eva Schinkinger, the investments will amount to 10 million euros. At the same time, just beginning with the first phase, jobs for 400 employees are to be opened, and subsequently, their number might increase up to 1,000.
The prime minister welcomed the Austrian company’s intention to extend investments in Moldova, and highly appreciated the business environment’s role in Moldova’s development. “Investments represent one of the three basic pillars of the country’s economic development, along with the supremacy of law and anti-corruption measures,” the prime minister said.
Pavel Filip confirmed the support for facilitating foreign investments. He noted that this was a priority of the government, and gave assurances that the authorities would back the new investment project, as besides boosting the industrial sector, it also stipulated the creation of new jobs.
The sides also discussed aspects on Moldova’s economic development, especially measures undertaken by the government to improve the investment climate. In the context, the prime minister referred to the control bodies’ reform and efforts to optimize the normative framework by cutting the number of permissive documents for doing business in Moldova.
Gebauer&Griller Company has been working in Moldova since 2013, and is among the most important producers of cable and wiring for the automotive industry on the international market. Presently, the enterprise has over 3,200 employees and has an annual turnover of 425 million euros.
