Fuels prices drop after Moldovan energy regulatory authority sets ceiling prices

11:25 | 01.06.2016 Category: Economic

Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/ - The pump prices for oil products today were decreased, after on 31 May the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) had  announced the ceiling retail selling prices for fuels. More oil companies today posted a price of 16.21 lei per one litre of Premium-95 petrol and 13.73-13.83 lei for one litre of diesel.

The new prices have not been posted on the official web pages of big dealers for the time being, and the others present the old prices. ANRE obliged operators on the oil products market to establish the retail selling prices, publish them on its web page and post them on informative panels from fuel supply stations on the day when the regulatory authority sets the ceiling. The new prices entered into force and are applied for all consumers starting from Wednesday, 1 June, 00:01 at night.

On 31 May, ANRE announced the ceiling prices for the next two weeks: 16.21 lei per one litre of Premium-95 petrol, 13.83 lei for diesel and 7.20 lei per one litre of liquid gas. Under the Methodology, the energy regulatory authority, once in 14 calendar days, establishes the ceiling retail selling prices for petrol, diesel and liquid gas and publishes them on its web page at 13:00.

The National Energy Regulatory Agency warned the operators on the oil products market about their responsibility for the observance of the new procedure of setting and applying the retail selling prices for fuels.

ANRE found out, following a meeting from 30 May, that 27 companies on 23-25 May had increased the prices for fuels with infringements of the legislation in force. In early last week, the oil companies increased the petrol price by an average of 0.6 lei up to 16.35 lei and the diesel by 1.1 lei up to 14.35 lei per one litre.

The National Energy Regulatory Agency obliged the licence holders to remove the ascertained infringements. Representatives of the regulatory authority warned that ANRE had right to start the procedure of suspending the licence in case of infringements of the legislation.
