Stop smoking in Moldovan parliament

Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/ - The enforcement of the law on tobacco control was started at the parliament, with the MPs warned that smoking is banned in the institution, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Within an action on raising the awareness about the noxious effects of smoking on health, a group of children, along with Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, glued stickers at the main entrance of the parliament, urging the lawmakers to give up smoking.
‘’We say the adults that smoking is banned both in parliament and in all closed public spaces. First of all, they do evil to themselves, as well as to those around them, including children,’’ Andrian Candu said, urging to a sound lifestyle.
Starting from 31 May 2016, according to the amendments to the law on tobacco control, passed by the parliament, the smoking is prohibited in all closed and semi-closed public spaces, including in places of common use, working places, entertainment parks and playing grounds for children, on stadiums, arenas, in markets and other open public spaces during public events, at public transport stops, in public transport means and private transport means where there are minors.
