Moldovan premier meets foreign minister of the Netherlands

Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today had a meeting with Foreign Affairs Minister of the Netherlands Bert Koenders, on a working visit to Chisinau, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The prime minister highly appreciated the visit by the head of the Dutch diplomacy, describing it as a signal of support both in the relation Moldova-European Union, and on the bilateral relation. ‘’I welcome your visit to Chisinau as Foreign Affairs Minister of the Netherlands and as representative of the Presidency of the EU Council, which we describe as a continuity of the political and diplomatic dialogue between our countries,’’ Pavel Filip said.
The PM confirmed Moldova’s interest in deepening the cooperation and increase in bilateral investments, as well as in the studying and practical implementation of the Dutch experience in diverse fields.
For his part, the Dutch foreign affairs minister reiterated the support for Moldova on behalf of the European Union, and in particular, on behalf of his country. Bert Koenders stressed the importance to achieve the objectives assumed by the Moldovan authorities in terms of promoting reforms to regain the trust of the citizens, as well as of Moldova’s external partners. In the context, the official referred to the need to ensure the stability of the financial sector, strengthen the regulatory capacities in the banking sector, as well as the independence of justice.
The sides tackled also other topics, such as the implementation of the Association Agreement, results of the benefitting from the free visa regime, consolidation of trust between the two banks of Dniester, including in the context of enforcing the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA), regional geopolitical situation, prospect for negotiating a new agreement with IMF, role of the civil society and mass media in the process of Moldova’s modernization. The officials also discussed the Moldovan government’s priorities and the measures undertaken to carry them out.
In the end, the sides declared for an open and continuous dialogue, to achieve the common goal of advancing on the way of European integration and social and economic development of Moldova.
