Moldovan parliament awards more young people

Chisinau, 1 June /MOLDPRES/- A number of 20 young people from different districts of Moldova were awarded by the parliament and UN Programme, Women in politics, on 1 June.
According to the parliament’s communication and public relations department, the young people were nominated winners of an essay contest, Open doors for women in politics, organized by the parliament’s territorial offices for information, in partnership with the district education departments. The contest, carried out in April-May 2016, was aimed at drawing attention of young people to respecting gender equality in politics, importance for ensuring equal chances in decision-making and public life, as well as to ensure a balanced participation of women in politics.
Awarding diplomas and prizes took place in the parliament’s conference hall. Every young person received a diploma of merit on behalf of Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu.
“You are the best among the best. We wish you success and performances, and have a pleasant vacation, full of positive emotions. Be always on the first place and front row in all activities you will hold”, Parliament’s Secretary General Ala Popescu said.
Subsequently, the young people attended a guided tour of parliament, being informed about the parliamentary activity and legislative process.
