Moldova, Czech Republic to consolidate bilateral ties

Chisinau, 2 June /MOLDPRES/-Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Czech Ambassador to Moldova Zdeněk Krejci today discussed ways to boost up bilateral cooperation, development of Moldovan-Czech investment projects as well as the upcoming official visit of Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka to Chisinau on 9-10 June 2016, the government’s communication and press relations department has reported.
During the meeting, the sides praised the improvement in the quality of the Moldovan-Czech political-diplomatic dialogue. In this context, Filip welcomed the upcoming visit of his Czech counterpart to Chisinau on 9-10 June 2016, noting that along with the organization of the Forum of Business people, it will help consolidate commercial-economic and investment cooperation.
“The government is interested in a larger amount of Czech investments into the Moldovan economy. We praise the fact that Moldova is on the list of states that are a priority for the Czech economy in the Export Promotion Strategy for 2012-2020. Therefore, we expect Czech investments to grow. I also want to thank the Czech government for keeping Moldova among priority states entitled to development aid,” Filip said.
The Moldovan prime minister unveiled short-term priorities, touching upon the reforms implemented to stabilize the financial-banking sector, improve the business environment, sign an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and resume external funding.
For his part, Krejci said Czech authorities backed Moldova in the implementation of its association agenda, being willing to offer the necessary support to fulfill its commitments.
“We have a large experience in the implementation of reforms in various sectors and we are ready to share it with Moldova,” the Czech official noted.
At the end of the meeting, Filip spoke out for the consolidation of Moldovan-Czech cooperation ties, noting that his counterpart’s visit to Chisinau will boost up this process.
