Romanian SMURD helicopter crashes in Moldovan settlement

Chisinau, 2 June /MOLDPRES/-A Romanian SMURD helicopter (Mobile Emergency Resuscitation and Extrication Service) crashed in Moldova, Haragis village, Cantemir district, in the morning today. All four people aboard have died. A statement to this effect was made by the press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergency Situations Service (SPCSE), Diana Turcanu.
According to Turcanu, the helicopter disappeared from monitoring radars at 14:13 o’clock. “More rescue teams of the Department for Emergency Situations from Cahul and Cantemir districts arrived to the place of the tragedy. So far, rescuers have not found all the crew members. Searches, however, continue,” Turcanu said.
“SPCSE representatives asked for the intervention of a Romanian SMURD helicopter in Vulcanesti district, Moldova. Subsequently, the helicopter was going to carry out another intervention in Cantemir,” Turcanu said.
Causes of the helicopter’s crash are still unknown.
