International Monetary Fund praises Moldova’s efforts to implement economic reforms

Chisinau, 2 June /MOLDPRES/-The International Monetary Fund (IMF) praised the actions taken by Moldovan authorities to implement reforms in the social-economic and especially financial-banking sectors. A statement to this effect was made by IMF Executive Director Menno Snel during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic today.
The Economics Ministry’s press service stated that according to IMF executive director, the implementation of these reforms creates all the necessary premises for Moldova to negotiate and sign a new agreement with IMF, which will be further a good platform to consolidate Moldova’s ties with its development partners.
For his part, Calmic said the promotion of reforms in all sectors is a priority for the Moldovan government, who besides restoring the confidence of foreign partners, also aims to fulfill its commitment to change the situation in the country, create attractive working and life conditions for all citizens.
The deputy prime minister also unveiled the actions taken by the Economics Ministry to draft a legal framework and adjust it to EU standards, especially in the energy, investments, competitiveness, infrastructure quality, consumer protection and public protection management sectors.
In this context, the Economics Ministry touched upon the steps taken by Moldovan authorities to create an attractive investment climate and set up a moratorium on state controls, cancel over 120 permissive documents with a negative influence on economic agents, especially on small and medium sized enterprises.
