Media access to plane crash to be banned until completion of investigations

Chisinau, 3 June /MOLDPRES/- Media access to the plane crash site will be banned until completion of research works to set causes of the tragedy. A press officer of the Civil Protection and Emergencies Service (SPCSE), Diana Turcanu, made the statement today.
Experts from Romania arrived at the accident site. “Law enforcers are to conduct investigation. The entire area is surrounded, only forensic team has access”, Diana Turcanu said.
The Romanian commission is led by emergency department head Raed Arafat. “It is also made up of members of Military Prosecution, Prosecutor General’s Office and other courts within the Interior Ministry of Romania. Only Romanian forensic experts are now in Haragis village, responsible for investigating the crash site, after which they will exchange information with Moldovan specialists”, Turcanu said.
On 2 June at 22:00, the victims’ bodies reached the Chisinau-based forensic centre. “Today, it will decide on when they will be repatriated in Romania”, the quoted source said.
On 2 June, President Nicolae Timofti signed a decree declaring 3 June as a mourning day. Thus, the state flags will be hoisted at half-mast in all Moldovan settlements, as well as in Moldovan diplomatic and consular missions from abroad.
A SMURD helicopter crashed near the village Haragis, Cantemir district. All four crew members: pilot, co-pilot, doctor and paramedic died. The SMURD aircraft and medical staff belonged to the department from Iasi.
