Moldova to offer one million lei as financial support to families of SMURD helicopter crash victims

Chisinau, 3 June /MOLDPRES/-Moldova will donate one million lei to the families of the four victims of the tragic helicopter crash in Cantemir district. A statement to this effect was made by Prime Minister Pavel Filip during a meeting for emergency situations today.
According to Filip, during the cabinet’s emergency meeting, “he ordered the preparation of a government decision granting financial support of one million lei to the families of the four deceased families.”
“The document is to be approved during the next cabinet meeting,” the prime minister said.
A SMURD helicopter crashed near the village Haragis, Cantemir today. All four crew members: pilot, co-pilot, doctor and paramedic died. The SMURD aircraft and medical personnel belonged to the department from Iasi.
President Nicolae Timofti signed a decree declaring 3 June as a mourning day. More officials laid flowers today and lighted candles at the headquarters of the Romanian Embassy in Chisinau, to commemorate the victims of the tragic aircraft accident.
Moldovan and Romanian forensic teams carry out investigations to establish the cause of the aircraft crash.
