Moldovan PM meets acting president of International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance

Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today had a meeting with the acting president of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), Ambassador Mihnea Constantinescu. The discussions were focused on the social policies concerning the protection of the Holocaust victims, updating the education programme from Moldova on the concerned subject, as well as the international cooperation on this segment, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The PM appreciated the way Romania was exercising the office of president of the Alliance this year, stressing, at the same time, Moldova’s openness for backing this organization.
“I reiterate our firm will to contribute to achieving the goals pursued by IHRA, with a proof in this respect being the setting of the date of 27 January as National Holocaust Remembrance Day, as well as the working out of a roadmap on cultivating the memory about these tragic events,” Pavel Filip said.
For his part, Mihnea Constantinescu referred to programmes of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance on the international stage and possibility to implement them in Moldova, including by providing expertise and developing the professional abilities of specialists in the field.
„IHRA is an international organization of major importance, which can strongly influence the perception of the international society for a certain state or government. We are happy that the Moldovan cabinet has more achievements, which can be promoted internationally,” Mihnea Constantinescu said.
The officials discussed also the cooperation in diverse fields and the need to prioritize the bilateral projects which are to be implemented.
