Moldovan cabinet approves draft on amending legal framework on way of organisation, work of local public administration authorities

Chisinau, 8 June /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet of ministers has approved a draft law on the amendment and completion of legislative acts. The draft’s goal is to ensure the observance of the principle of local autonomy, in line with the fundamental elements set in the European Charter of Local Self-Government, Moldova is party to, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
In this context, the authorities will carry out amendments and completions to norms regulating the way of organization and work of the local public administration authorities, their interaction with the government, taking into account the present contradictions and lack of a proper legal framework in this respect.
Also, under the law No 229 from 25 October 2012 on the amendment and completion of legislative acts, the Balti municipality (Moldova’s second largest settlement) was given the status of second-level administrative and territorial unit, which is to be approved by law.
The draft law is to be considered by parliament.
