Moldovan electoral body invites international institutions to delegate observers to next autumn presidential polls

Chisinau, 9 June /MOLDPRES/ - The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) has submitted official petitions to the inter-parliamentary assembles and international parliamentary organizations Moldova is party to, international specialized institutions, electoral management institutions, diplomatic missions and consular offices accredited in Moldova on the delegation of representatives for the observation of the parliamentary elections due on 30 October 2016.

“Invitations on participation have been sent to 17 international competent institutions, among which the European Parliament, Council of Europe, European Commission for Democracy through Law, Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR), OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, etc.,” reads a communiqué by the Central Electoral Commission.     

According to CEC, the international monitoring of the elections is aimed at ensuring the organization and carrying out of fair elections, in line with the international standards in the field, as well as at enhancing the degree of transparency and confidence in the electoral process from Moldova.  

International observers are accredited in accordance with the provisions of the Electoral Code and the regulation on the status of observers and procedure of their accreditation.
