Chisinau, 9 June /MOLDPRES/ - Education Minister Corina Fusu today unveiled the activity report before MPs, after the lawmakers of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) had submitted a simple motion of censorship on 27 May.
The PSRM MPs reasoned the document’s submission by the fact that “neither reform of the education sector, promised by Minister Corina Fusu, has been carried out and neither it is underway. At the same time, there would be reasons to believe that Mrs. Minister would promote or at least would tolerate corruption in the education sector of Moldova,” the document reads.
Asked by lawmakers about the corruption in the education field, the education minister said he attempted to fight “the phenomenon of getting marks against payment through the National Anticorruption Centre; yet, no actions can be undertaken without evidence.”
At the same time, the official specified that she intended to further promote “the good functioning of the Romanian language, modernization of the vocational education and improving the quality of education in Moldova.”
Following the debates, the simple motion of censorship against Education Minister Corina Fusu was not approved by the parliament’s plenum, failing to get the needed number of votes.
The Socialists have earlier submitted a simple motion of censorship against Defence Minister Anatol Salaru and today against Finance Minister Octavian Armasu. This after the PSRM MPs had failed to collect enough signatures to be able to submit a motion of censorship against the Filip government.
