Moldova, Czech Republic sign two cooperation memoranda in regional development sector

Chisinau, 10 June /MOLDPRES/- Moldova and the Czech Republic today signed two cooperation memoranda between the Agriculture and Food Ministry, Regional Development and Constructions Ministry of Moldova and the Czech Development Agency.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip and his Czech counterpart, Bohuslav Sobotka, made statements to this effect at a news conference today.

The Czech official underlined that Moldova could rely on cooperation with the Czech Republic in development and transformation assistance. “Moldova is a priority partner for us. It is an important exporter of food products; therefore, we have to orient ourselves towards increasing this trade sphere, in order to get positive results at bilateral level,” Bohuslav Sobotka said.

Pavel Filip noted that “following this visit, our cooperation relation will be grow even more. We rely much on the support of Czech colleagues in modernizing and Europeanising Moldova. A very good signal of cooperation is the Moldovan-Czech economic forum, which proves that there is interest in diversifying and enhancing the relations”, he said.

“The signed documents are of special importance for the regional and agricultural development. We appreciate the financial support. I assured the Czech PM that the Moldovan authorities would do their utmost to continue implementing the reforms and the Association Agreement for developing the key-sectors of the country”, he said.

Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka pays an official visit to Moldova on 9-10 June. He will have meetings with President Nicolae Timofti, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu and will attend a Moldovan-Czech forum of business people.
