Moldovan, Czech premiers participate in bilateral economic forum

Chisinau, 10 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip and his Czech counterpart Bohuslav Sobotka today participated in a forum of business people from Moldova and the Czech Republic. The event was organized on the occasion of an official visit to Moldova by the Czech PM, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.    

At the event, the officials spoke out for boosting the Moldovan-Czech relations in more fields, especially in the commercial and economic cooperation.

Prime Minister Pavel Filip referred to actions undertaken by the Moldovan authorities to ensure the political, economic and social stability as essential element for attracting investments. “We have managed to ensure stability in Moldova and I invite you to invest! Moldova is a country with potential in the business development sector. We have entered the final straight with a view of signing an agreement with IMF, which will allow us having access to foreign financing. The Czech Republic is a key partner for Moldova and we want a more active involvement of Czech investors in the national economy,” PM Pavel Filip said.   

The Moldovan prime minister also referred to measures undertaken to reform the justice and diminish administrative obstacles. “After imposing the moratorium on state controls, we started amending the legislation in terms of carrying out controls and cutting the number of control entities from 69 to 10,” Pavel Filip said.  

For his part, Czech PM Bohuslav Sobotka emphasized the positive experience of cooperation between Moldova and the Czech Republic in implementing projects in the agriculture sector and water management, and spoke out for development of economic ties and promotion of mutual investments. The official expressed his country’s willingness to share the experience of the Czech Republic, in order to apply European standards in diverse sectors.     

The participants in the forum also discussed possibilities to strengthen the economic and investment relations, increase the bilateral collaboration for the benefit of the people from the two states.  

In 2015, the trade exchanges between Moldova and the Czech Republic amounted to about 75 million euros.
