Moldovan envoy attends Canada-Moldova friendship group fiundation meeting

Chisinau, 13 June /MOLDPRES/- Moldovan Ambassador to Canada Ala Beleavschi has recently participated in a meeting of foundation of the parliamentary friendship group Canada- Moldova, held at the Canadian federal parliament. Attending the event were members of the main parliamentary parties from both chambers of the federal parliament, as well as representatives of the Moldovan Embassy in Canada, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry’s information and media communication service has reported.

The newly created group is made up of members of both chambers of the Canadian parliament, House of Commons and Senate, as well as representatives of the Liberal majority faction and official conservative opposition. The group will be led by an MP of the majority faction, Alexandra Mendès, representing the Montreal electoral constituency.

The group also included more outstanding representatives of both houses of the federal parliament, among whom the head of the committee on foreign policy and international commerce of the Senate and ex-President of the House of Commons' committee on foreign policy and international copmmerce, who will serve as vice presidents of the group.

The group’s creation will offer an appropriate framework for strengthening the Moldovan-Canadian cooperation, promoting interests of Moldova, setting and developing working relations between MPs of the two countries and creating a permanent mechanism of informing members of the Canadian parliament, in order to better know regional developments concerning Moldova’s interests.
