U.S. Army officer awarded Moldovan defence ministry's distinction

Chisinau, 13 June /MOLDPRES/ - The head of the Military Cooperation Department of the United States in Moldova, lieutenant colonel Brendan C. Barlett has been awarded the medal „Pentru consolidarea frăției de arme” (For Consolidation of Brotherhood in Arms), for efforts made to developing the cooperation relations between the armies of Moldova and the USA.
According to Defence Minister Anatol Salaru, the distinction was given to the American officer for the carrying out of assistance projects, during his mandate of head of the Military Cooperation Department, such as restoration of the military training base of the National Army, donations of military equipment and technology, bilateral exercises, as well as Moldovan servicemen’s training at American education institutions.
For his part, lieutenant colonel Barlett said that it was an honour for him to hold the office of head of the Military Cooperation Department of the USA. He voiced confidence that the joint projects and training would continue for modernizing the National Army.
Lieutenant colonel Brendan C. Barlett was appointed head of the Military Cooperation Department of the USA in August 2013. The American officer finished the Naval Postgraduate School of Monterey, California, USA and the United States Army War College – aviation. He holds the title of master on issues of national security and international relations.
