Chisinau, 14 June /MOLDPRES/- The Romanian government started the technical procedure for providing the first installment of the 150-million-euros-worth loan for Moldova. Romanian Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos made statements to this effect at a meeting with Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
“We want Romania’s support to be not only financial, but also be used by Moldova inclusively to regain trust in relations with western partners. It is important that you achieve results and move step by step in implementing reforms, so that the money provided by the Romanian government backs the changes underway," Dacian Ciolos said.
Ciolos welcomed the positive results achieved by the Moldovan authorities in carrying out the Roadmap. He noted that the latter's implementation would generate important changes in the justice sector and fighting corruption, as well as in the financial and banking sector. Also, the Romanian PM was interested in the actions taken by authorities in terms of administrative and control simplification on the business environment from Moldova. At the same time, the official encouraged the authorities to more actively involve the nongovernmental sector in the decision- making process.
Andrian Candu said that the adoption of the Roadmap had served as a mobilizing impetus, prompting the parliament and government to synchronize the agendas and to more effectively manage both the fulfilment of the commitments assumed before the EU and the establishment of new mechanisms for monitoring and reporting in this respect. In the context, Candu expressed confidence that the authorities would manage to carry out the actions set till the end of the parliament session, even if June and July seem to be full in terms of legislative work.
In another context, Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu thanked the Romanian government for the support offer to Moldova and highly appreciated the continuation of the bilateral cooperation projects announced by the Romanian prime minister for the next period. These projects see providing 100 school mini-busses to the Moldovan education units, initiating a programme on financing local communities, as well as continuing a programme on repair of kindergartens from Moldova, with about three million euros earmarked to this end.
