Moldovan PM chairs meting of council for coordinating activities of fighting organized crime

Chisinau, 14 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today convened a meeting of the council for coordinating activities of fighting the organized crime, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.  

In the beginning of the meeting, the prime minister stressed the need to boost the cooperation between the state institutions involved in fighting the organized crime, in the context of visa regime liberalization and signing of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement. “I demand that all authorities involved in the process of preventing and combating the organized crime focus on strengthening the interaction with the organizations involved in fighting this phenomenon. It is important that we sanction the office disciplinary infractions, which may lead to fraud,” Pavel Filip said.     

The representatives of the institutions in charge of preventing and fighting the organized crime reported about actions carried out and the arrears due to be removed in the process of implementing the national strategy for 2011-2016.

The rapporteurs referred, in particular, to the creation of local contact points for coordinating activities of prevention and fighting the organized crime, of the national entity specialized in permanently monitoring the enforcement of the legislation in the concerned sector, as well as to the providing of a joint database on organized crime.  

In this context, Prime Minister Pavel Filip demanded fostering of the international, and inter-institutional cooperation between the law and control bodies nationally, as well as the transnational collaboration.
