Moldovan parliament speaker meets president of Belgian Senate

Chisinau, 15 June /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu had a meeting with President of the Belgian Senate Christine Defraigne in Brussels today, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The two officials approached aspects on boosting the bilateral cooperation between the Moldovan parliament and the Senate of Belgium, by establishing a format of cooperation between specialized commissions or the friendship group. In the context, the president of the Belgian Senate gave assurances about the willingness to provide the Moldovan legislative body with the needed expertise, depending on the requests.
Andrian Candu referred to the parliament’s role in carrying out the domestic reforms in Moldova and reviewed the actions implemented so far by the authorities, to regain the confidence of the citizens and development partners. According to the Moldovan parliament speaker, the Roadmap was fulfilled at the level of 60 per cent, and till the end of the current session, the parliament is to adopt a large volume of laws which regard, to a great extent, the justice sector and anticorruption fight, financial and banking sector and improving the business climate.
Other subjects discussed at the meeting were focused on the domestic developments in Moldova, regional security and relations with the neighbour countries, stage of the five-plus-two negotiations, in the context of the German OSCE chairmanship-in-office.
Given the solemn events due to be organized in Chisinau starting from 27 August, Speaker Andrian Candu made an invitation to the president of the Belgian Senate to attend a festive parliament meeting, dedicated to marking the 25th anniversary of Moldova’s Independence, due on 9 September 2016.
