Moldovan cabinet approves draft on amendment of legislation on tourism development

Chisinau, 15 June /MOLDPRES/ - The villages and towns and some of their parts/districts, which have tourism patrimony and infrastructure, where the economic activities back preponderantly the rendering of tourism services, might get, under cabinet decision, status of tourism resort, according to a draft on amendment of the legislation, approved by the government today.
To improve the statistic record, the government proposes to include in the law provisions on the use of the Tourism Satellite Account, which collects relevant. The use of the Account would give possibility to unify the mechanism of statistic record and calculating the expenses, as well as to adjust it to the international standards.
Under the amendments, the central tourism authority will hold the register of tourism, based on an integrated information system. The Culture Ministry proposes application of higher exigencies towards the administration and employees of the tourism companies. Thus, the head/manager must have certificate of the A category on the finishing of qualification courses in the tourism sector or master diploma of higher education with specialization in the tourism field.
The specialty staff should have certificates on finishing qualification courses in the tourism sector or graduation diplomas with specialization in the tourism field.
The draft sees that a minimum package of tourism services will be provided to disadvantaged people in need of social protection. The social tourism will be backed by the central and local authorities, including through financing programmes.
More completions will be made to the Contravention Code, stipulating the levying of fines from 100 to 300 conventional units for carrying out the activity without certificate, spread of untruthful information on the type and category of the tourism accommodation unit. A guide who is not bearing a badge in a visible place will be sanctioned with a fine from 50 to 100 conventional units.
