Chisinau, 15 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip, at a today’s cabinet meeting, demanded that the state institutions take all needed measures to settle the problems emerged in the wake of heavy rainfall recorded in some Moldovan settlements, which caused big material damage and even losses of human lives, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
“As I said on the other occasion too, we must be people in these cases, we must provide every attention and support they expect from the authorities. Each according to his/her degree of legal responsibility. I demanded an assessment of the damages inflicted by the rains, and following this evaluation, we are able to approve the assistance for the people hit by the calamity from Ceadir-Lunga and not only, amounting to 2.1 million lei. This is a necessary aid, as, in general, it is about of families with modest incomes, which need to be backed in these difficult moments,” the PM said.
In this context, the prime minister demanded that the competent authorities take prevention measures, in order to ensure the security of people in natural disasters.
“A person lost her life in Chisinau and another one is in serious condition in hospital. This is extremely painful. Obviously, the heavy rainfall, as well as other natural calamities do not depend on human will; yet, the authorities are responsible for the prevention measures,” Pavel Filip noted.
In the context, the PM specified that he had been informed on the fact that the Prosecutor General’s Office had opened more criminal files, including on negligence proved on behalf of authorities, losing life of imprudence, as well as grievous bodily harm or harming the health. “These investigations will establish for sure all the circumstances and will bring to court the responsible people, who ignored the office duties, which led to serious consequences,” the PM added.
