Moldovan deputy foreign minister attends Ministerial Meeting of Central European Initiative

Chisinau, 16 June /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Lilian Darii participated today in Banja Luka, in the Meeting of the Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the Central European Initiative (CEI) Member States, organized by the CEI Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Foreign and European Integration Ministry's informatoon and media communication service has reported.
Discussions at the meeting focused on various ways and means of facing the migratory crisis, including exchange of views on the lessons learnt and best practices with regard to respect for fundamental human rights in the fight against terrorism. The officials also discussed the strengthening of regional co-operation in sustainable development through better business links and stronger connectivity, in particular in the transportation and energy sectors. The ICE role in European integration processes was also debated. The officials stressed the need to promote a more efficient interaction between the EU member states and CEI member countries that promote an active European integration agenda. Finally, they elaborated on the draft CEI Plan of Action 2017-2020, endorsed the budget of the CEI Cooperation Fund and the decision on the Belarusian Presidency in 2017, as well as adopted a Joint Communiqué reflecting the conclusions of the ministerial meeting.
In his statement, the Moldovan official presented the priorities of the Republic of Moldova in the interaction with CEI and dialogue with the European Union, underlining the importance of the co-operation in Central European region as an added value in promoting European integration agenda.
On the margins of the Ministerial Meeting, Deputy Minister Lilian Dari held meetings to to discuss bilateral relations and regional situation with the Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei and the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania Alexandru Victor Micula.
