Moldovan PM meets district heads

Chisinau, 16 June /MOLDPRES/ - Prime Minister Pavel Filip today chaired a working meeting with the participation of the cabinet members and the leaders of the second-level local public administration authorities, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The participants in the meeting, which lasted more than two hours, discussed the most important problems and solutions to them, tackling a wide spectrum of subjects on public administration, as well as aspects on collaboration between the local and central authorities.
The prime minister stressed the importance to ensure an efficient dialogue between the state institutions of all levels. “Our No 1 goal is clear and simple: Moldova’s citizens must live better here, at home, in Moldova, in a country edified on the basis of European values. And this depends on all of us together, not only on the government, but also on the local public administration. Therefore, I believe that it would be wrong to separate these powers, they must be regarded as a whole, and when we manage to unite all that deals with the public administration, we will have better success,” Pavel Filip said.
The PM also referred to the developments of the last months and the government’s priorities for the next period, touching upon the actions concerning the stabilization of the social and economic situation in Moldova, as well as the dialogue held with Moldova’s partners, in order to re-establish the trust and re-launch cooperation to ensure a sustainable development of the country. According to the prime minister, almost two thirds of the actions seen in the Roadmap on the priority reforms’ agenda have been carried out, and the entire document is to be enforced on the set period, till 31 July 2016. Also, the government undertakes consolidated efforts to advance in the dialogue with IMF and other foreign partners, in order to get the assistance needed to resume development projects.
For their part, the district heads spoke about the situation in the territory, and appreciated the support actions on behalf of the government in certain situations. At the same time, they informed about a string of problems, the settlement of which need the involvement of the central authorities. Among them, the district heads highlighted the financial difficulties, delays in the payment of budgetary allocations and subsidies, normative and legislative deficiencies as regards the assets’ management, particularly in the education sector. Also, the district heads referred to the low level of wage payment in the budgetary sector, which triggers insufficiency of staff in public institutions, as well as the need to give an impetus to the carrying out of infrastructure projects, roads’ construction, environmental projects, developing agriculture and identifying sales markets for selling Moldovan goods.
Representatives of the Environment Ministry, Education Ministry, Finance Ministry, Regional Development and Constructions Ministry and Transports and Roads Infrastructure Ministry, Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry answered numerous questions by leaders of local administrations. At the same time, at an instruction by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, all the subjects tackled at the meeting are to be considered in detail by competent institutions and get an answer in the term set. The PM added that such meetings would be organized regularly.
