Banner "Recovery of Embezzled Assets" to be accessible online in Moldova

Chisinau, 17 June /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova’s citizens will be able to watch the process of recovery of the money embezzled from the three problem banks, Banca de Economii (Savings Bank), Banca Sociala (Social Bank) and Unibank on a banner placed on the official webpage of the Finance Ministry, www.mf.gov.md ,the government’s communication and media relations department has reported.
The banner, ”Recuperarea Activelor Fraudate” (Recovery of Embezzled Assets) today was unveiled at a meeting of the standing committee on monitoring cases of increased social interest.
“We want the investigation of the theft from the three banks and the recovery of the sums be carried through and that we ensure transparency of the process of assets’ recovery. It is important that we take all the needed measures, so that such situations do not repeat in the long run,” Prime Minister Pavel Filip said.
The banner will contain information on the recovery of the embezzled assets, which will be monthly updated, at the divisions: recovered sums, reimbursement of the urgency credits and the process of selling assets. The information will be presented for each bank separately.
“We want the information on this case be accessible for all Moldova’s citizens, including for those from abroad. Therefore, we ruled to launch an online banner, which can be accessed from any place of the world. The quick and efficient information to this end does not imply use of financial means. The persons in charge of the recovery of the sums are clearly specified on the site,” the PM also said.
The banner could be accessed starting from Monday, 20 June 2016.
The standing committee on monitoring cases of increased social interest was set up at an initiative by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, in order to ensure interaction between the state’s institutions, so as to efficiently and operatively manage resounding cases and identify solutions to overcome them. Attending the meeting of the Committee were the leadership of the Finance Ministry, Justice Ministry, Interior Ministry, Prosecutor General’s Office, Security and Intelligence Service, National Anticorruption Centre, National Bank of Moldova and the liquidators of the three banks.
