Moldovan deputy premier, Romanian foreign minister discuss bilateral ties, Transnistrian settlement

Chisinau, 17 June /MOLDPRES/ - Deputy Prime Minister Gheorghe Balan received Romanian Foreign Minister Lazar Comanescu at the government today, the Bureau for Reintegration has reported.
On this occasion, the deputy prime minister welcomed the Romanian diplomat’s decision to visit Chisinau and thanked the Romanian government for the constant support provided to Moldova.
The officials discussed also Moldova’s European agenda, implementation of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement, strengthening the Moldovan-Romanian bilateral ties in diverse fields, as well as the issue of Transnistrian settlement, including through the light of the present challenges and regional security environment.
The deputy prime minister informed the Romanian minister about the present situation and prospects for the negotiating process, highlighting the main subjects on the sides’ working agenda.
Gheorghe Balan referred also to the outcomes of the five-plus-two talks, held within the permanent conference on political issues in the Transnistrian settlement process, which has recently taken place in Berlin, as well as to preparations for a traditional Bavarian conference, Confidence Building Measures in Transnistrian Conflict Settlement Process, due in next July.
His Excellency Lazar Comanescu thanked the deputy prime minister for dialogue, appreciating the Moldovan government’s efforts to settle the Transnistrian problem and the constructive approach proved within the process of negotiations.
The minister gave assurances that Romania was a sure partner for Moldova on the way of rapprochement with EU, and opted for a continuous development of the relations with Moldova in diverse fields of common interest.
