Moldovan parliamentary delegation attends PACE summer session

Chisinau, 20 June /MOLDPRES/- The parliamentary delegation participates in a summer session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The meeting takes place in Strasbourg on 20-24 June, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The delegation is made up of MPs Valentina Buliga, Liliana Palihovici, Maria Postoico, Valeriu Ghiletchi, Andrei Neguta and Alina Zotea.
The participants in the meeting will debate the situation of refugees in Greece, promotion of gender equality in the army, violence against immigrants and administrative detention. The agenda also includes the approach of resolutions and recommendations on issues related to the educational and cultural networks of communities set abroad, transparency and openness within European institutions, road safety in Europe as a public health priority, as well as functioning of democratic institutions in Turkey.
Deputy Speaker Liliana Palihovici will present information about “parliamentary immunity: challenges in applying privileges and immunities of PACE members”. At the same time, MP Valeriu Ghiletchi will unveil a report on combating excessive sexualization of children.
Under the agenda, Prime Minister of Greece Alexis Tsipras, Prime Minister of Estonia Taavi Rõivas, Chair of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe Marina Kaljurand will convey messages to the PACE plenum. At the same time, Secretary General of the Council of Europe Thorbjørn Jagland will answer MPs questions.
The inauguration of a photo exhibition, Culture, traditions, country, will be carried out on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Moldova’s independence. The exhibition will take place on 21 June and will be opened by head of the parliamentary delegation to PACE Valentina Buliga and PACE President Pedro Agramunt in presence of the MPs from the 47 member states of the Council of Europe and of the officials attending the event. It will be followed by Moldovan wine tasting.
