Chisinau to host meeting of joint commission on European integration between Romanian, Moldovan parliaments

Chisinau, 21 June /MOLDPRES/- A meeting of the Joint Commission on European integration between the Romanian and Moldovan parliaments will take place in Chisinau on 22 June 2016, after a two-year break, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
Under the agenda, the participants in the meeting will approach issues related to the level of implementing the Association Agreement with EU and Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, as well as concrete cooperation and support projects on behalf of the Romanian parliament. At the same time, they will discuss issues on justice reform in Moldova, implementation of projects on energy interconnection between Moldova and Romania, development perspectives for the Romanian business environment in Moldova, projects related to the education and youth sector.
“The commission resumes its activity after a two-year break, having on the agenda both basic and traditional issues, as well as hot and current topics between Romania and Moldova. As the legal mechanism for transferring the first installment from the financial support provided by the Romanian government is already ensured, we are going to present the steps taken by Moldova for meeting conditions necessary for transfer. We will also tackle the problem of citizens having expired Romanian passports, who have been recently announced they have no longer Romanian citizenship as they perfected birth certificate under the Romanian documents of their parents, and we hope to find a viable solution”, the co-head of the joint commission for European integration between the Romanian and Moldovan parliaments, George Mocanu, said.
At the end of the meeting, the MPs will sign a declaration on the fifth meeting of the joint commission for European integration between Romanian and Moldovan parliaments, and co-heads Mocanu and Florin Constantinescu will give a news briefing.
The Moldovan parliament will be represented at the event by MPs George Mocanu, Marcel Raducan, Roman Botan, Mihael Spatari and Corneliu Padnevici. The Romanian parliamentary delegation is made up of senators Florin Constantinescu, Marius Sorin-Ovidiu Bota, Florinel Butnaru and Tinel Gheorghe.
Also, the Romanian delegation has scheduled in Chisinau a string of meetings with Parliament Speaker Andrian Candu, Foreign and European Integration Minister Andrei Galbur, Economics Minister Octavian Calmic, Agriculture and Food Minister Eduard Grama, Transport and Road Infrastructure Minister Iurie Chirinciuc.
The last meeting of the commission took place in Bucharest in June 2014.
